The Estate

The Cheval Blanc vineyard, formerly part of the Figeac estate, was transferred to the owners of Château l'Evangile before becoming a separate entity in the 19th century. Under the direction of Pierre Lurton, the estate has maintained its reputation for several years, including after its acquisition by LVMH in 2009. The new cellar, operational since 2011 and designed by Christian de Portzamparc, reflects the property's ecological commitment. Never dethroned from its status as Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" since 1954, Cheval Blanc nevertheless decided to withdraw from the classification in 2022.

Château Cheval Blanc is unique thanks to its exceptional terroir where Cabernet Franc (52%), Merlot (43%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%) flourish harmoniously, although their proportions vary with each vintage. This unique combination gives the wine a robust structure and a sense of maturity. Deeply ruby-colored, it exhales floral aromas of violet and blackcurrant. On the palate, the fruits intertwine with powerful tannins. This concentrated Saint-Émilion requires 15 to 25 years of aging to reveal its full magnificence, offering a perfect balance and an elegance reminiscent of the great Pomerols.
