The Estate
Stéphane Bernaudeau’s estate, located in Martigné-Briand in the Maine-et-Loire region, is a small yet iconic wine domaine in Anjou. A former collaborator of Mark Angéli at La Sansonnière, Stéphane founded his own estate in 2002. He passionately cultivates a few hectares of vines using biodynamic practices, focusing primarily on Chenin Blanc, grown on exceptional terroirs. True to his artisanal vision of winemaking, he works alone or with minimal help, maintaining a high level of precision and producing highly sought-after cuvées known for their purity and finesse.
The estate’s vineyards lie on schist and quartz soils, giving the wines a vibrant minerality. Yields are intentionally low, harvesting is done by hand, and vinification is natural: native yeasts, no additives, and little to no sulfur. The wines are aged slowly, often in old barrels, to fully express the complexity of the Chenin. The result is a collection of white wines that are tense and deep, combining elegance, energy, and remarkable aging potential.
The Wine
The Nourrissons comes from old Chenin vines grown biodynamically on deep schist soils. The yields are very low, the harvest is manual, and the winemaking is natural: indigenous yeasts, no additives, very little or no sulfur. The aging is long, in old barrels.
