The Estate
The passion for vines and wine has been passed down for four generations in the Boutemy family.
Château Haut-Lagrange is a family-owned estate founded in 1989 by Francis Boutemy, at the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. His passion for viticulture was inherited from his grandparents, who once owned a neighboring classified growth in Léognan.
Today, Ghislain Boutemy, son of Francis, manages the vineyard and winemaking process. He is supported by a dedicated team of three, all sharing the same deep passion for vines and wine.
The Wine
The grapes are harvested by hand, with meticulous sorting both in the vineyard and at the winery. The 2021 harvest took place from September 10 to September 24. Fermentation is carefully controlled at 29°C, followed by a 21-day maceration period. Aging lasts 16 months, with 40% of the wine maturing in new oak barrels (French oak merrain) and the rest in vats. Bottling occurs 21 months after harvest.
Tasting
A highly seductive nose of ripe red fruits, with spicy and raspberry notes. On the palate, it is intensely fruity, with elegant tannins, remarkable purity, and vibrant freshness.
