Located in Ardèche, specifically in Mauves, the Pierre Gonon estate is a family-owned vineyard covering 10 hectares that produces exclusively under the AOC Saint-Joseph designation. Brothers Pierre and Jean Gonon have elevated the estate to the pinnacle of the appellation through their uncompromising work in the vineyard. They have been certified organic since 2011. The estate prefers the freshness of the grapes over excessive ripeness. The whites can age for 10 years, if not longer. The reds offer a nuanced interpretation of Syrah, never overly demonstrative.
This 100% Syrah is as pure as it gets. Vinification with natural yeasts is followed by an aging in concrete or oak. Floral notes, spices, and earthy aromas will seduce you in the glass. The tanins show superb aging potential.
