The Estate

The history of Château Lafite Rothschild dates back to the 14th century when the estate belonged to the Segur family. The vineyard truly began to flourish in the 17th century under Jacques de Ségur, who planted the first vines. In 1868, Baron James de Rothschild acquired the estate, and under his management, Château Lafite Rothschild became one of the first growths according to the official 1855 classification, solidifying its global reputation for exceptional quality wines.

The estate's exceptional terroir, with its well-drained gravelly soils, has always been recognized for its ability to produce high-quality wines.

Today, Château Lafite Rothschild still belongs to the Rothschild family, managed by Saskia de Rothschild, the youngest chairwoman of the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite). The estate continues to produce some of the world's most prestigious wines, combining traditional viticultural techniques with modern innovations to maintain and enhance the quality of its wines. Emphasis is placed on sustainability and environmental respect, reflecting a contemporary evolution while honoring the estate's centuries-old heritage.

Aristocracy in a bottle. Lafite Rothschild is never too demonstrative, it always shines with finesse. With a high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, it develops notes of cedar and black fruits. Keep in the cellar for 15 years at least.
