The Estate

With about 80 hectares, Château Pontet Canet is of the few Grands Crus Classés certified with the biodynamic certification. It belongs to the Tesseron family, which is only the third owner since the 17th century. Classified in the 5th categroy in the 1855 Grand Cru Classification, it is undeniably considered today as one of the best Pauillacs, if not one of the best in the Medoc region.

A third of new oak : Château Pontet Canet does embrace the trend of super oaky Pauillacs. The freshness of the wine combined with a fruity character allow it to be admirable if opened young. But this is still a Pauillac, one of the best terroirs when it comes to produce wines built for aging. Pontet-Canet is fabulous after some decades in the cellar.
