Located in the southern part of the Médoc peninsula, near the villages of Macau and Ludon, the Château Cantemerle vineyard, classified as a Grand Cru in 1855, stretches across a vast bed of deep gravel. This unique terroir enables Cantemerle to produce wines of rare complexity. After belonging to the Villeneuve family (1579-1892) and the Dubos family (1892-1980), the château was acquired in 1981 by the SMA Group, a mutual insurance company for construction and public works businesses. The estate's ancient history is reflected in the architecture of its buildings and the magnificent surrounding park, giving Cantemerle an incomparable charm and romanticism.
Château Cantemerle captivates with its complex aromas of dark fruits, cedar, and spices. On the palate, its silky tannins provide an elegant and balanced structure. Notes of blackcurrant, plum, and tobacco blend harmoniously, with a hint of vanilla on the finish. This wine showcases impressive depth and remarkable aging potential, perfectly reflecting the exceptional terroir of Haut-Médoc.
