The Estate

Since the 17th century, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou has been producing wines of very high caliber. Classified as a Second Growth in the 1855 classification, it has always been recognized, notably in the United States, as one of the greatest wines of Médoc, thanks to its extraordinary gravel soil (which is the origin of the château's name). Francis Borie acquired the estate in 1941, and the Borie family still owns it today, continuing a tradition of excellence.

Fifty hands work in succession to craft the Grand Vin de Ducru-Beaucaillou. This supportive multicultural team shares a common philosophy of pushing the limits of their craft. The accumulation of care and attention to detail makes for an exceptional vintage. Their viticulture is both elite and respectful, encompassing the entire technical viticultural and winemaking process: from soil restoration and Médoc-style pruning to meticulous green work and replanting of plots. There is a consistently rigorous selection of grapes, vinification tailored to the identity of each parcel, extraordinary purity in blending, and a long-term approach to aging (18 months). This process also involves listening, self-questioning, and thoughtful consideration.

The result is in the glass. The charm works immediately. A gently fruity attack on the palate, voluptuous fullness, perfectly integrated silky tannins, and an exceptional, persistent finish. The aromas dance, flatter the nose, stir the soul, and invade the memory. A muse that arrives on tiptoe, leaving a lasting, infinite impression.
